A guide to carpet tiles
Carpet tiles are 500 x 500 mm squares of carpet, laid side by side to cover a floor. Because each tile is a separate piece, you can mix colours, change direction and run a pattern across the room. Inlife shows them in polypropylene, PET and nylon, 5 to 6 mm thick, for offices and commercial carpet.

Tiles, planks and rolls
Inlife carries all three formats, so you can choose by room and by look:
- Carpet tiles
- 500 x 500 mm squares. The standard for offices, meeting rooms and lounges.
- Carpet planks
- Long rectangles, 25 x 100 cm, laid like timber in herringbone, brick or ashlar patterns.
- Carpet rolls
- Broadloom carpet made in wide rolls for wall-to-wall rooms: banquet halls, home theatres and bedrooms.
Construction
The tiles are about 5 to 6 mm thick, with a pile of polypropylene, PET or nylon on a stable backing. The face has a brushed, diagonal hatch that catches the light, so the floor changes shade slightly as you walk across it.

- All tiles in one direction, so the floor looks like broadloom.
- Quarter turn
- Each tile turned 90 degrees to the next, giving a soft chequerboard.
- Ashlar and brick
- Rows offset by half a tile, like masonry.
- Colour runs
