Material guide

A guide to metal beadings

Metal beadings are slim stainless steel profiles and strips used to trace lines, edges and inlays across wall panels, furniture and tiled surfaces. A thin line of gold or black can tie a whole wall together.

Profiles

T profiles
Inlay lines between panels, 6 to 50 mm wide.
L profiles
Edges and corners, 8 to 40 mm legs.
U profiles
Channels, 5 to 100 mm wide and 10 mm deep, plus inverted U.
Flat profiles
Flat strips, 8 to 50 mm wide.
Louver profiles
120 mm wide with a 12 mm module.
Tile profiles
12 mm, for tiled edges.
Self-adhesive strips
12 to 100 mm wide, on 5 m rolls.

Specification

Profiles are 201 grade stainless steel in 3048 mm lengths. The T, L, U and flat profiles are 0.6 mm thick, louver and tile profiles 0.8 mm, and self-adhesive strips 0.3 mm.

Finishes

Gold, rose gold, black and silver, each in mirror or hairline. Mirror reflects like jewellery; hairline has a fine brushed grain and a softer look. Designer T profiles add dotted, splash and wood textures.

Designing with beadings

Match the metal to the hardware in the room: gold with brass handles, black with dark frames. Use T profiles to grid a large wall into panels, or a single line to mark a change of material.

Choosing

Bring a photo of the room or the drawings to the Experience Centre in Choolai, Chennai, and we will set the options out side by side. Samples can also be sent to offices in Chennai for viewing.
