A guide to fabric panels
Fabric panels are thin, flexible decorative sheets, 1.5 mm thick, with a fabric face. They bring the look of upholstery to walls, wardrobes and counters, in ribbed weaves and printed geometric patterns. Inlife shows 38 designs in 8 x 4 ft sheets, in plain ribbed and metallic-streak finishes.

What fabric panels are
Each sheet is a decorative layer about 1.5 mm thick, faced with fabric. The surface is soft to the touch and you can see the actual weave and rib of the cloth.
Because the sheet is thin and flexible, it can dress flat walls and furniture faces alike. Sheets are 8 x 4 ft, with some designs also in 10 x 4 ft.

- A ribbed, corduroy-style weave in seven colours: white, cream, peach, light grey, dark grey, green and brown. Each colour comes plain or with a fine metallic streak running along the ribs.

- Printed fabric sheets with geometric and linear patterns, mostly in whites, greys and warm neutrals, with a few bolder designs.

Designing with fabric
The ribbed Shade weave works like corduroy on a wall: vertical ribs lift the ceiling, horizontal ribs widen a narrow room. The metallic versions add a soft line of light along each rib, most visible under warm lamps.
Pair cream, peach and brown with walnut and brass for a warm bedroom. Use light and dark greys with black metal and glass in offices. Frame a ribbed panel with a slim metal beading for a crisp edge.
Fabric, leather-look or cork?
Fabric Panels, Faux Leather Laminates and Cork Panels are all thin sheets that soften a hard room. Fabric has a woven, ribbed texture and the look of upholstery. Leather-look sheets have an embossed grain and a richer, more formal feel. Cork has a natural, granular surface. Seeing all three together at the showroom is the quickest way to decide.
